I spent yesterday in Pennsylvania snowboarding. The weather was nice until the "unexpected" snow. I don't know how I kept my sanity when we, as a family, were cooped up in a van for nearly 5 hours as the speedometer barely rose above 45mph.
the sad thing is that this person is an American

No, it's not my local VFW, it's my three-hundred and seventy-fifth blog post. Who knew I'd stay on the Internet for this long?
Locale: Akron, Ohio.
Pizza at 2am this morning was well deserved and even more needed. This old body started breaking down around midnight given lack of sleep and the accelerated consumption of a famous Dutch beer.
I awoke this late, late morning to depart back home to Mansfield and brave the "horrible snow storm that we're getting Saturday." Well, I encountered ZERO problems during the 70 mile drive and came to the conclusion that the general population enjoys scaring themselves with the entertained idea of "killer snow storms." Yes, we've had two bad ones since Christmas, but I won't believe all the amateur jr. weather forecasters until I see the storm myself.
LET'S FACE IT, COLD IS COLD.
I've had about enough of winter, sad as that may sound, but it's even sadder when the realization sets in that winter is only HALF over.
What a great weekend in fabulous DETROIT!
I had almost forgotten what fun it is to spend time with Ana, Nelly, and Kristin. Sushi Friday night in Windsor was a goodtime and I appreciate the US Border Agent taking my camera and looking through all my pictures. If he'd just asked, I'd have emailed them to him. The Canadian Border Agents were cooler - they agreed to stamp my passport.
Upon looking at the calendar, my ship is to set sail for Flagstaff, AZ in approximately 7 weeks. That's pretty soon. As much as I am looking forward to it, I know I'll miss lots of things and people from the Midwest.
Other news:
Conny has finally landed in the south of France, Montpellier to be exact. I hope she will enjoy her next six months. Salut!
Power is back, sloth and laziness is in.
Now that we got our electric back after 116 hours, I'm back to being lazy. Living with no power requires willpower. I liked the darkness and going to bed early all weekend. The cold wasn't too bad either. If I had only hot showers, I could live without electricity, I think...
There's been no power at 1705 Palomar Drive for close to 3 days now. It sucks, but I guess getting killed by a tsunami is worse. Therefore, I must cope and not complain.
The house is cold, like 48 degrees cold. It's like camping but with carpet and a comfortable bed with THREE pillows.
I had planned on taking a trip to Akron this weekend but that's fallen through due to a lack of motivation and interest. We'll see what my motivation is for going up to Detroit next weekend.
My hands smell like a campfire and for some odd reason, I find it comforting, like snuggling up to a warm body that smells of apple shampoo.
I saw "Napoleon Dynamite" today and I found it to be excellent. Terribly funny and sweet.
On the other hand, I watched "Anchorman, the legend of Ron Burgandy." Except for some funny parts (which I could count on one hand), it was not "better than 'Dodgeball' " as Nelly Udicki claimes. The thing is, "Dodgeball" was actually funny.
